Small and intimate weddings
Small and intimate weddings are a wonderful occasion and provide a relaxed and informal setting for any couple planning to get married.
The benefits of holding your special day with your closest friends and family means that the whole day is more relaxed. As a bride or groom you have so much time to speak and give attention to your guests.
For a small wedding you can still have all the traditions if you want to of offering favours, speeches, cutting the cake, throwing the confetti, keeping it as informal as you wish.
At Altskeith Country House we have many different locations for you to hold your ceremony. For a smaller wedding its easier to guide guests so if you are wanting to hold your ceremony outside and you cannot make a decision until the day itself due to the weather its very easy to wait until very close to the ceremony time before deciding. We would always suggest having a Plan B option as well, just in case.
Small and intimate weddings give you a time after the ceremony to relax, have a few drinks and canapes, chat and mingle as well as take some time to capture your wedding memories with photographs, all without feeling you are on a timeline to get many things done and speak to as many people as possible. Its such a slower more relaxed day.
Time to eat
The dining room at Altskeith Country House is perfect to host a wedding party of up to 22 guests. Meals can range from the formal and plated to the less formal and sharing style menus.
For smaller weddings from 2-12 we can host the meal in the bay window of the living room.
Speeches if you wish to have them can be as informal and brief as you would like. Sometimes one person can say a few words and then it is straight into the meal.
During the summer months it stays light until well into the evening so this is the perfect time if you wanted to try and get some time to yourselves and celebrate your special day. The most perfect thing is to take out the rowing boat and have your photographer capture some moments together from our other boat.
For the colder months we can light the log burner and everyone can settle in front of the fire and enjoy drinks and stories together.
Board games both indoor and outdoor are a great way to keep younger guests entertained. Sweetie sideboard for the sugar fix. Bring your own play list and hook into our sound system in the function room and have time for some dancing.
If your main meal is slightly earlier in the day you might want to arrange a snack for mid evening. Our homemade pizzas or paella are very popular.
And so to bed
Make it a 2 day event
It is rare sometimes for friends and family to spent quality time together due to distances where the live the busy lives please lead. Making your wedding a 2 or 3 day event is the perfect time to spend quality time with the people you love in a relaxed and idyllic setting.
